We’re there for you every step of the journey.

In addition to our talented guides, our full-time operations team ensures that every climber is appropriately prepared for the adventure.

From equipment gear advice and team communications, we are devoted to making sure that every climber arrives in the mountains prepared and excited about the experience ahead.

We have been setting the standards for guiding trips to Aconcagua for over 20 years, which means we offered support to more than 1,200 expeditions from all over the world. Whether measured in years of operation, numbers of guides who learned their trade under our supervision, or the vast number of folks with whom we have climbed, we have more experience guiding Aconcagua than any other mountain guiding service.

High altitude illnesses are seen on a daily basis during the busiest times of the season in Aconcagua. Many of these can be avoided with a good acclimatization program.

There are many ways to do this, and everyone acclimatizes at a different rate.

Our itinerary presents an ascent that offers an excellent opportunity for a safe and successful climb of Aconcagua.

We work bearing in mind the Wilderness Medical Society guidelines, and our itineraries have been tried and tested by more than six thousand climbers over the course of the past 20 years!

  • Twenty days itinerary, including two extra days.
  • Ascending slowly. Take plenty of time to go up. If you’re breathless, you’re going too fast. For much of the climb on Aconcagua, you should be able to talk comfortably.
  • Going light at first. For the first journey above BC keep your load as small as possible. Only carry a charge load once you’re acclimatiTakingrying too much, too quickly will increase your risk of AMS.
  • Looking after yourself. Make sure you have enough to eat and drink. Take regular breaks and ensure that you sleep as much as possible! Whatever happens, makes sure you’re comfortable enough to enjoy the mountain!

We can solve any unexpected issue that might occur, offering 24/7 service. We have a staff of professional and expert people that can assist you whenever you need it, before, during and after your expedition.

Much of the experience you will enjoy our expeditions comes from a proper planning; customer feedbacks and creative thinking.

We continually re-evaluate the entire process of our expeditions to make every effort we can to enhance the qualities of our itineraries, as well as reduce our impact on the mountain. These translate from small adjustments to our altitude menu to add days to the plan. You can be confident that all of the logistics, down to the minor details, have been double-checked and confirmed. This continued work has allowed us to build upon a standard of excellence and give our clients the consistency they deserve year after year. From the first step to the summit and back, MTA Expeditions is there to help you in this fantastic adventure.

The hardest and most exciting part is that the process is never complete and that everything we hope to accomplish remains a work in progress.

Fortunately for us, this service ethos in which helping others access and experience an Aconcagua climbing proved be something of value, and in doing so, we found purpose and satisfaction.

We’re proud of the fact that our guide’s team is among the most talented and experienced in the country. They can lead a group on the highest mountain as few can.

All our guides hold full certification with the AAGM (Argentinean Association of Mountain Guides) and EPGAMT (School of High Mountain and Trekking Guides), the highest level of guide training available in Argentina.

MTA Expeditions success was due in massive part to having exceptional guides team.

They have become our friends and MTA Expeditions has become a vehicle for all of us.

Our view is that if we don’t enjoy the people we work with, that our clients won’t either.

Teamwork works, together we develop our climbing itineraries to be safer and flexibles.

Every MTA Expedition guide is experienced, and familiar with our ethics, standards, and operations, from the technical skills of our guides to our risk management.

As you reach higher elevations and test your limits, the value of an experienced guide cannot be understated. Our professional guides provide individual attention for a safe and enjoyable adventure.

When you travel with MTA Expeditions, you start the trip with a solid idea of what your expenses will be. Our itineraries make it clear up front what costs are covered, and which will be your responsibility.

We’ve rolled more services into our trips to enhance your travel experience and eliminate unexpected costs.

If you cancel your trip for any reason, your deposit can be used in future years towards the cost of your trip without penalty. You can also pass it to a friend.

That’s right. We’re the first in Aconcagua to guarantee every single one of our departures.

All our expeditions with scheduled departures are guaranteed so you do not have to worry that your date may change.

Unlike some other companies, we guarantee the price of your trip will not change after you have booked. The price you booked is the price you´ll pay.

Throughout our history, mountain safety has been one of the three core pillars of our company.

MTA Expeditions maintains the highest standards for commercial practice and safety compliance. We pride ourselves on our safety record. When making decisions organizing expeditions, safety is our primary focus.

Our maximum team size is 12 climbers with four guides. Small groups with several guides make the climb more enjoyable, safer and give you a higher chance of success.

All teams have emergency oxygen with them at all times. All guides carry VHF radios to communicate with other guides and Base Camps giving them the ability to get weather forecasts, request additional porters or assistance in case of an emergency.

Our porters are extraordinarily responsible and understand the importance of assisting you with your gear up the mountain. At no additional cost, porters are employed to carry part of our climbing gear on the mountain to keep your backpacks at reasonable weights. They will also move human waste and trash back to Base Camps. If you would like to hire additional porters to carry all your gear between camps, you can do so at an extra cost.
